The Hollister Downtown Association (HDA) is hosting the 32nd Anniversary Street Festival, Car Show, and Chili Cook Off on Saturday, July 21 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in Historic Downtown Hollister.
The Street Festival has featured free watermelon for attendees and for the last 25 years at the car show. Over 200 beautiful cars and trucks and 8,000 festival goers will descend upon downtown to catch up with friends and family while admiring the vehicles on display. Proud owners share the history of their cars while happily pose for photos for interested attendees. From muscle cars to low riders, exotic European vehicles to trucks, there is a style and color for everyone to enjoy. Vendors will line up along Fifth Street between San Benito and Monterey Street, bringing items such as shave ice, kettle corn, and baked potatoes. Visitors can stop by the HDA raffle table and buy an event shirt while you are in the vendor area. We will feature live bands, including Scooby & El Fuego and The Flashbacks, on two stages along San Benito Street. The kids area will encompass the 400 block, complete with bounce houses and face painting. This year the HDA is excited to partner with the Hollister Firefighters Union once again to add a chili cook-off to round out the 400 block activities.
Last year’s best of show car was a bright red 1956 Chevy Bel Air owned by Carl Gillihan from Escalon. It will be featured on this year’s poster and t-shirts. Car owners interested in participating in the event can register online http://www.downtownhollister.org/2017-street-festival-car-show-car-show-registration/ or stop by our office at 514 Monterey Street in Hollister.
