The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) of San Benito County will host the 3rd Annual Health Fair on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Hollister Community Center at 300 West Street in Hollister.This event will gather families for a day focused on community wellness. LULAC will provide a variety of health screenings, eating options, immigration resources, and fun physical activity to celebrate family and overall healthy lifestyles.
The Lulac Health Fair will have a broad variety of health provider booths this year. The Health Fair is sponsored by both LULAC and many community partners who together provide comprehensive health information free of charge.
Among the many businesses and organizations represented are:
San Benito Medical Associates, Hazel Hawkins Hospital, St. Louise Hospital, ANSR Pharmacy, Lions Club, CareMore, Jovenes de Antano Senior Services, San Benito Health Foundation, Hollister Recreation Department.
“Our vendors will focus on the health issues we face in San Benito County and it is really a community event designed for the care of the entire family,” said Terry Cook, head of media relations for the Health Fair.
“We will have free services such as eye exams, dental examinations, blood sugar testing, blood pressure testing, as well as interactive presentations such as dance and Tai Chi,” Cook said.
Strides For Life is an organization that has participated each year with the LULAC Health Fair and fights to provide colon cancer awareness. Strides for Life will bring their poluar inflatable "colon" exhibit to the Health Fair. They hold an annual dinner dance/auction and 4k run/walk race as fundraisers for scholarships and support for those diagnosed with colon cancer.
San Benito Medical Associates is a group of local independent physicians in Hollister who provide health care services to the residents of San Benito County. The group consists of 14 primary physicians and 65 local specialists.
SBMA has been a sponsor of the LULAC Health Fair since it's inception. Both organizations will be at the event throughout the day.
The Health Fair will be held at the Hollister Community Center, 300 West St. in Hollister. It is free and goes from 10:00am to 3:00 pm.
