DUI Checkpoint

The Hollister Police Department conducted a DUI/ Driver’s License Checkpoint on Saturday which resulted in four arrests for driving under the influence and 20 citations for driving without a license. 

The checkpoint was at San Juan Hollister Road between Westside Blvd and Felice Drive. Traffic traveling westbound on the roadway was screened by officers at the checkpoint. 

The operation ran from 7-11:30 p.m., during which time officers screened more than 700 vehicles. Officers conducted 10 field sobriety tests on driver’s suspected of driving while under the influence or who had been drinking. Four of the drivers evaluated resulted in arrests for suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol. 

Additionally, 20 drivers were cited for driving without a license or driving with a suspended driver’s license. Everyone cited for driving without a license or driving with a suspended license were released at the checkpoint. Most of the vehicles were released to a licensed driver and not towed. 

In a press release, the Hollister Police Department said it would like to remind everyone “to not drink when you drive and remember to have a designated driver if you choose to drink.”

Funding for the checkpoint was provided to Hollister Police Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
