The Hollister Police Department made four arrests for DUI and issued 24 citations for driving without a license during a DUI/Driver License checkpoint on Fourth Street between Westside Boulevard and Felice Drive on Saturday, Aug. 6.

Westbound traffic was screened by officers for possible DUI drivers and drivers without licenses. The operation started at approximately 7:30 p.m. and concluded around 11 p.m., the HPD said in a press release. During that time, officers screened more than 550 vehicles. and conducted five field sobriety tests on drivers suspected of driving while under the influence or who had been drinking. Four of the drivers evaluated resulted in arrests for suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Those arrested for suspicion of DUI were Paula Kenealy 56, of Hollister, Mauro Figueroa, 37, of Hollister, Jose Morales, 30, of Hollister and Santos Mendoza, 23, of Hollister.

Additionally, 24 drivers were cited for driving without a license or driving with a suspended driver license. Everyone cited for driving without a license or driving with a suspended license was released at the checkpoint. Most of the vehicles were released to a licensed driver and not towed.

The Hollister Police Department would like to remind everyone to not drink and drive and remember to have a designated driver if they choose to drink.
