4 juveniles arrested for school graffiti

School resource officer and others helped ID alleged perpetrators

Between May 30 and June 1, multiple vandalism (graffiti) incidents occurred in the areas of Marguerite Maze Middle School, Gabilan Hills Elementary School, HDLA, and San Andreas Schools, causing substantial damage.

With the combined efforts of the staff at Marguerite Maze Middle School and School Resource Officer Michael Paddy, several persons of interest were identified. After a thorough investigation, four juvenile suspects were contacted and subsequently arrested for their involvement. Through this investigation, the same suspects were also found to be responsible for a recent arson that occurred just outside the city limits on the 300 Block of Chappell Road.

In a press release, The Hollister Police Department said it would "like to thank the Hollister School District Personnel for diligently working with the SRO on this investigation." There were other vandalism incidents reported and some unreported during this same time period. Victims of those vandalisms are encouraged to contact SRO Paddy to confirm if there is a possible connection between those incidents and the suspects in this investigation.

The arrests were made possible by the SRO position, which is cooperatively funded by The Hollister School District and the City of Hollister. The Hollister Police Department would like to remind citizens to report suspicious persons and/or activity occurring in their community; including schools, parks and their neighborhoods.

Anyone with information related to this investigation are asked to contact SRO Mike Paddy at the Hollister Police Department at 636-4330. Persons wishing to remain anonymous may call WeTip at (800) 78-CRIME. Information provided to WeTip may qualify for a reward.
