Dear San Benito County Residents,
San Benito County, the Statewide Special Election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, is less than a month away. This is a crucial, unique moment in our state’s history, and your participation is vital.

The Governor and the State Legislature called this election on short notice to put Proposition 50 before voters. This proposition asks you to decide on a proposed new congressional district map for California. Your vote is not a mere formality; it’s a powerful tool that will directly influence how our community is represented in Washington D.C. for years to come. This is your opportunity to be part of a decision-making process with profound significance for our future.

A Commitment to Secure and Fair Elections
My team and I are working tirelessly to ensure the election process is fair, secure, and conducted with the highest integrity, despite the sudden nature of this statewide election.

This special election is a true team effort, and we are working with limited resources to make it a success.

As you know, our county is facing challenging financial times, and the recent distress over the budget has impacted the Elections Office. We’ve had to contend with reductions in services and staffing levels. This will directly affect residents as we will have fewer drop boxes available across the county; we simply cannot support more boxes or the personnel needed to manage the infrastructure.

I want you to know that, regardless of these challenges, we are still completely committed to ensuring you have every opportunity to cast your vote. Our dedicated staff is working tirelessly, putting in overtime, and we are fortunate that people have stepped up to volunteer and work the polls. Many have accepted pay reductions or volunteered for free. This is the heart of what our community is about: friends and neighbors coming together for a common cause.

The True Debate: Community Service
There is much conversation about this election and Proposition 50; flyers, mailers, and debates are taking place every day. But I want to elevate a greater, more fundamental debate: the debate about the men and women working the polls. They are our friends, neighbors, and family. They will take time out of their day to ensure that you have a chance to vote, that your ballot is counted accurately, and that the election is fair.

This dedication from your fellow citizens is a message I want everyone to remember as they head to the polls. Their service is the foundation of our democracy. Together, with their commitment and your participation, we will have a successful election.

Your Voice is Your Power
Thank you for your continued trust in our work. We are ready to meet your needs during this election with confidence and community. We are counting on your partnership to make this a successful election for all of San Benito County.

Remember: Your voice is your power. Make a plan to vote on November 4th. Whether you choose to vote by mail or in person at a Vote Center, every single vote is crucial.

Don’t let this opportunity pass you by.
