Hollister’s Veterans Day Appreciation ceremony and parade was held in front of the Veterans Memorial Building and on San Benito Street on Nov. 11, drawing hundreds of attendees.

The annual event is held to honor all of those who have served their country in the military. More than 40 people participated in the parade in the afternoon.

Veterans Memorial Building manager Maria Spandri said it’s important to thank all the veterans out there who serve our country to make it better and more safe.

“We don’t know if we’re going to go off to war,” Spandri said, “or if we’re going to stay in the country. But our ultimate goal is to serve the country before self, even when we come back to our lives as civilians.”
