San Benito County encourages residents to enjoy a joyful and mindful holiday season by planning ahead for proper waste disposal and recycling. Several convenient programs are available to help residents responsibly recycle Christmas trees and holiday lights while reducing landfill waste.
Free Curbside Christmas Tree Recycling for Recology Customers. Recology customers may recycle their natural Christmas tree at the curb at no additional cost through January 31, 2026.
Trees should be cut into sections no greater than three feet and set out for collection the night before or no later than 6:00 a.m. on your regular service day.
Please remove all decorations, lights, tinsel, and tree stands.
Flocked trees are not accepted in the Recology green organics cart and are considered trash.
Please cut your flocked tree to fit loosely inside your grey Recology garbage cart before disposal.
