The producers of “American Pickers” have once again contacted the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce about filming locally, the Chamber announced in a press release Tuesday. Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz, and their team plan to film episodes of the hit History Channel series throughout California, with filming scheduled for March.
"American Pickers" is a documentary series that explores the world of antique "picking." The show follows Wolfe and Fritz as they hunt for America’s most valuable antiques–from motorcycles, classic cars and bicycles, to one-of-a-kind vintage memorabilia.
As they hit the backroads from coast to coast, Mike and Frank continue their mission to recycle America by rescuing forgotten relics and giving them a new lease on life, while learning a thing or two about American history along the way.
The show's producers are looking for leads in San Benito County and "would love to explore our area," said Juli Vieira, chief executive officer of the Chamber.
"The producers contacted us last year about this same time of year but their schedule did not permit them to venture as far up the coast as they would have liked. So they have asked that the Chamber once again put out the word," she said. “They are on the hunt for characters and San Benito County has our share of interesting characters and stories so I hope the show receives some response form the community."
Some items they are looking for include vintage bicycles, toys, unusual radios, movie memorabilia, advertising, military items, folk art, pre-50s western gear, early firefighting equipment, vintage musical equipment, automotive items, and clothing.
If you or someone you know has a large, private collection send “American Pickers” your name, phone number, location and description of the collection with photos to: [email protected] or call 855-653-7878 (855-Old-Rust).
According to Vieira, the Chamber will not be taking names of interested parties. "American Pickers" is asking community members to contact them directly so they can get more information about their items.
