With the holiday season fast approaching, the annual 12 Days of Giving, a matching funds campaign, is preparing to launch on Dec. 1st. Participating organizations include CASA of San Benito CountyChamberlain’s Children CenterCommunity FoodBank, and Emmaus House; all filling a gap by providing services to those in our community in greatest need.

The 12 Days of Giving is an idea born out of generosity and community spirit. Several years ago, Bob Tiffany of Tiffany Motor Company was contacted about using his dealership for a live telecast promoting a holiday season fundraiser for a national nonprofit organization. When he learned of the cost to his dealership for agreeing to play host, Tiffany hatched another idea with the goal of ensuring that all funds stayed within the community.

The idea is simple: businesses and organizations in San Benito County are approached for sponsorship grants to be leveraged as matching funds for individual contributions.

Since its inception, the 12 Days of Giving has collectively raised $348,000, all of which has stayed within the community, helping individuals, children, and families during the holidays and throughout the year.

Also contributing to the campaign’s success is United Way; since 2011, United Way has been a prominent partner, providing significant matching funds supporting the participating nonprofit partners.

This year, the 12 Days campaign will be kicking off on Dec. 1st and concluding on Dec. 12th. Monetary donations made to participating organizations during that time will be matched! Checks can be made directly to CASA, Chamberlain’s, FoodBank, or Emmaus House; please be sure to include “12 Days” in the memo; alternatively, donations can be made online here. If you would like to designate your gift to a specific organization, please be sure to note the name of that nonprofit in the purpose/designation field.
