The YMCA, which supports healthy living and youth development through youth sports, received a $20,000 grant from Community Foundation for San Benito County to support youth programs in the community. The Y provides access to all children to play recreational sports at a lower cost so all children who wish to participate can get off the sidelines.
Funds from the grant will:
- Support participation in sports, to help with childhood obesity
- Help children to get off the sidelines to an affordable cost to parents, to provide them with healthy play
- Healthy snacks within our programs to ensure children are focused and getting nutrition
The YMCA of San Benito County and Hollister Rotary Club invite the community to the 17th annual Y Golf Open on Aug. 21 at San Juan Oaks Golf Club. The entry fee is $130 or dinner-only is $40. Sponsorships are available, with proceeds from the event benefiting the YMCA and Rotary Club of Hollister.
