Antelope Fire burns near Paicines

Blaze near intersection of Panoche Road and New Idria Road is 95 percent contained as of Tuesday evening.

Updated 9/3/19 at 6:18 p.m.: Cal Fire said the Antelope Fire is mapped at 167 acres and is now 95% contained.

A fire is currently burning near Paicines. According to the Cal Fire San Benito-Monterey Unit, the blaze, known as the Antelope Fire, has burned 175 acres and is 0% contained as of 5 p.m.

Cal Fire and the Hollister Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire near the intersection of Panoche Road and New Idria Road in San Benito County on the afternoon of Sept. 2. Initial reports said the Antelope Fire was 75 acres.

As of 5 p.m., there is no structure threat, Cal Fire said.
