A few hundred people demonstrated as part of the No Kings Nationwide Day of Defiance in Hollister at the intersection of Hwy 25 and Sunnyslope/Tres Pinos roads on June 14, drawing honks of support from passing motorists.

Organized by the organization Indivisible and other activist groups, the rally featured demonstrators holding signs accusing Pres. Donald Trump of acting like a monarch and encompassing a whole range of causes and issues including opposition to federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions, spending cuts proposed by the the Department of Government Efficiency and the Republican-backed so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” and Project 2025, as well as holding emblems ranging from upside-down U.S. flags, LGBTQ flags, and Mexican flags.

Thousands of similar protests were conducted around the U.S. last weekend, also organized by Indivisible which provided a website with information about the site of the local rally, where to park, and a rationale for the protest.

The rally coincided with a military parade marking the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and Trump’s birthday in Washington D.C.
