The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) are partnering to create an international television event celebrating the extraordinary rejuvenation of the once-endangered but now thriving ecosystems of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. The live television segments, called “Big Blue Live” will air over three nights on BBC across the UK and in the U.S. on PBS from Aug. 31 through Sept. 2.
The Arts Council and Monterey Bay Plein Air Painters Association will demonstrate the role that artists play in elevating public awareness of the Monterey Bay ecosystem. Big Blue Live –The Artist’s View will feature both studio work and plein air creations. The exhibition and “meet the artists” reception will be held at the Museum of Monterey on the Custom House Plaza at Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey on Sunday, Aug. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m.
