Coming off a season in which it reached the Central Coast Section Division 1 finals and finished with a 7-6 overall record, the San Benito High School varsity football team opened the year with a 42-0 win over Sac-Joaquin Section power Hilmar on Friday, Sept. 5.
The Balers led 35-0 at the half and kept the home team scoreless in the second half. San Benito will host Palo Alto in Hollister on Friday, Sept. 12 before traveling the next two weeks to Los Gatos and Oak Grove before opening Monterey Bay League play at home versus Salinas on Oct. 3.
