BenitoLink, the San Benito County Business Council and the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau are joining together to host a workshop for businesses and community members on local resources and changes to health care services, insurance and policies. The event features a comprehensive program panel of experts from local health care service providers will be accompanied by a healthy breakfast and local health resources. The San Benito County Health Care Workshop will be hosted Tuesday, September 10 beginning from 7:30am to 9am in Hollister at the San Benito County YMCA 351 Tres Pinos Road, second floor in Suite A-201. Workshop hosts have recruited a panel of health care experts to present information and resources to our community. Panelists include Dr. Lawrence Cappel of San Benito Medical Associates, Andrew Shelton of Shelton Insurance, Sean Borchardt of Arthur G. Gallagher & Co., the San Benito County Health Department and Small Business Majority, a Covered California (State Insurance Exchange) community outreach network partner.

The hosts of the forum are seeking to provide their members and greater community an opportunity to raise their awareness of community wellness and business issues. The same group joined to host the Measure E community forum last year. The event is sponsored by Hazel Hawkins Hospital- San Benito Health Care District, San Benito County Business Council, BenitoLink, San Benito County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, and Arthur G. Gallagher & Co.

The workshop topic was chosen by the collaborative due to the need for fact-based information resources on local health services, major changes in health care services and insurance, and the federal and state provisions of the Affordable Care Act that impact small businesses. Topics of discussion will include: small business tax credits, shared responsibility, cost containment and California’s health benefit exchange, Covered California. After attending this session, attendees will have a working knowledge about the healthcare law and what it means for themselves, their families and businesses in the coming months, as well as resources to learn more.
