BenitoLink readers,

We have some great news— we are finalists in the Next Challenge for Media & Journalism competition. With that comes an opportunity for our community to help us win up to $10,000 through the Public Choice Award, and you can make it happen in under a minute. By clicking here and choosing BenitoLink, you are supporting impartial news and journalism in San Benito County.

BenitoLink is competing against 22 other finalists in three divisions which include PowerPlatform, Newstech and Future of Local Journalism. BenitoLink is a finalist in the latter with eight other organizations.

We need the support of this mighty community to further our mission to engage an informed community. This means continuing to host candidate forums, town halls and expand our efforts in keeping those in power accountable.

This can go a long way for local news so let your family, friends and neighbors know they can make a difference in the community by supporting us. The deadline to vote is 11:59 p.m. on May 19.

In addition to the Public Choice Award, BenitoLink is in line to win other awards up to $80,000.

According to its website, the Next Challenge for Media & Journalism “is the largest startup competition open to nonprofit and for-profit media companies in the United States. The 12-week challenge promotes groundbreaking ideas and trailblazing startups that will reinvent journalism and media over the coming decade.”
