
On Sept. 29, BenitoLink reporters Noe MagaƱa and Carmel de Bertaut attended a workshop presented by Investigative Reporters & Editors, Inc. (IRE).
The event was hosted by San Jose State University in conjunction with Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting. Over 100 reporters and journalism students were in attendance. SJSU School of Journalism and Mass Communications Department adjutant professor Halima Kazeem-Stojanovic organized the event with other staff and faculty personnel.
The six sessions included the best way to develop and work with sources, how to gather and break down information on breaking news, tips for working with the Freedom of Information Act and how to use social media to gather and break news.
Attendees also received a one-year membership with IRE, which offers resources for both reporters and editors.
