BenitoLink’s team of reporters, writers and photographers — along with content contributors from local nonprofits — gathered recently for our “Contributor’s Appreciation Night,” held at the Tres Pinos Inn’s clubhouse. The group celebrated how BenitoLink has doubled its users every year for the last three years, with a growing number of return visitors from all over San Benito County, the Bay Area and beyond every month. A few of our “Pledge of Champions” donors also showed up to meet the team.
On Contributor’s Night, we discussed our site’s ethics policy, which is posted on the site under “Terms of Use” link at the bottom of the homepage. The guidelines include editorial goals of:
· Truth
· Inclusiveness
· Civility
· Ethical Reporting
· Proper Attribution/Credit
· Local Emphasis
· Open Identity (no anonymous posting)
These guidelines help establish rules for civil interaction about things that matter to all of us. The more we learn to communicate with respect, the more we can discuss what really matters.
