The Fremont Peak Hill Climb 2013 NCNCA HILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP is being held today in San Juan Bautista.
Lines of cars lined Salinas Road early Sunday morning as riders prepared to tackle the climb up to Fremont Peak. Starting times were staggered from 10:00am when the pro riders would start, until the last group starts at 10:30.
The race is a Northern California and Northern Nevada bicycle race event. Approximately 75 riders raced Sunday. The race serves as the Northern California and Northern Nevada hill climb championships for 2013. The majority of the participants are very fit weekend racers (they typically train 10 to 15 hours a week). Some of the participants have part time jobs and train full time.

There is a $50 bonus for breaking course record.
