At about 5:30am on Sunday, December 8, a fire broke out in the complex of businesses containing the Dollar Store, Larry's Liquors and Neighborhood Pizza. When Fire Chief Mike O'Connor arrived at the scene he observed flames 60 feet high.

Update! Our new Fire Reporter, Bob Connolly, reports that multiple fire agencies from the surrounding area responded to subdue the fire including Gilroy, South Santa Clara County and Cal Fire. Agencies responding contributed crews engines, an additional aerial ladder, and overhead command staff. No injuries were reported. Red Cross, AMR paramedics, Hollister Police and PG&E also responded to support the efforts. Crews will remain on scene for an extended period to investigate and continue to overhaul flare ups.
