Another Valentine’s Day has come and gone, I hope you all enjoyed your day with your family and friends! We had the sweetest Valentine’s Day of all as we were able to bring our boy Brody home from a week long stay in the ICU at two different hospitals.
We had an extremely long week last week as Brody was seriously injured at a high school rodeo in King City. He was stepped on by a bull and he ended up with 10 broken ribs, both lungs punctured that each required a chest tube and a ruptured trachea. He was taken from the ICU in King City to the Stanford Medical Center ICU trauma center. Thanks to the outstanding doctors, nurses and care at both facililties, he is now home and on the slow road to recovery. Thank you to everyone for all your calls, texts, and visits. Every bit helped us get through this scary time.
Unfortunately, Brody’s rodeo did not go so well that weekend, but, King City residents Taylor Hurley and Caleb Johnson both had a good weekend. Each of them did well in thier events which qualified them both for the Challenge of Champions that showcases to the top 3 competitors in each event from each district throughout California. Challenge will be held in Plymouth, CA at the end of March. Brody is hoping to be healed up enough by then so he can at least compete in the team roping there. Also qualifying for Challenge from King City is Wacey Barrington who will be representing District 7 in the steer wrestling event. Good luck Taylor, Caleb, Wacey and Brody!
While we were at Stanford, we were able to visit with Bitterwater resident Donna Hansen who happened to be there the same time we were. Donna was there for a heart procedure which was very succesful. I was thankful to be able to see Donna while we were there, she looked fantastic and felt good while we were there. Hopefully by the time this edition goes to print, Donna is recovering at home. Get well soon Donna!
Birthday wishes go out to Rhett Falsey who celebrated his 18th birthday on Valentine’s Day! Time sure does fly, I remember when Rhett was born. Rhett celebrated his birthday with his sister at the George Strait Concert a few weeks ago and he celebrated again by having a birthday BBQ at his home on his actual birthday. Birthday wishes also go out to Todd Sans who celebrated on February 16th. We celebrated with a nice, quite BBQ at home with Buddy and Brody.
I don’t have much else to report on this week as I have been out of the loop for awhile. Now that we are home again, I will have more news to report on next week. Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or email me at wendymsans@aol.com with any news you’d like to share.
