According to Commander Adam Lobdell of the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office, the office responded Jan. 20 to a call about a dead body in the parking lot of the Lucky Supermarket on McCray Street in Hollister. Upon arriving at the scene deputies found Shawn Atencio (57) of Hollister seated in a vehicle with the door open. Sheriffs Office said it was clear at that time that Atencio was deceased.
Comander Lobdell added there were no outward signs of foul play, and the body was moved to the county morgue to await transportation to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s office on Jan 23.
Sheriffs Office said Atencio’s next of kin in Nevada has been notified.
