The Baler basketball program had a bit of a down year this season, with the freshmen team finishing with a 5-5 league record, the best record in the program. The junior varsity finished 3-7, while the varsity finished 2-8, missing out on the playoffs.
On Feb. 4, the Balers played against league rival Palma, with all three teams losing. The freshmen had a tough loss. With 20 seconds to go, Palma ran the clock down with the score being tied 42-42 in the fourth period. They ended up taking the last shot and hitting a buzzer beater to win 44-42.
Coach Reggie Synegal said, “This is one of the best games these boys have played.”
Two nights later was the homecoming basketball game, with the Balers facing the Christopher Cougars. The freshman and junior varsity teams did not have a let letdown from the Palma games, both teams beat Christopher. The freshmen started out with a bang, beating the Cougars by 20 points, while the JV had won 56-51. The varsity, however, took a tough loss, falling 50-48.
