Yes.
According to Chapter 2.04 of the Hollister Municipal Code, any person who has reached the applicable term limit of their mayoral service is eligible to run as mayor so long as it is four years following the conclusion of the person’s last term of office as mayor.
The passing of Measure S in November 2022 set an eight-year limit on the terms of mayoral service. As of 2026, the full mayoral term remains two years, with no more than four consecutive full terms of service allowed for a total of eight consecutive years. Hollister voters can change the full mayoral term to four years, with no more than two consecutive full terms of service, or a total of eight consecutive years.
In November 2024, Measure W attempted to change the mayoral terms from two years to four years, but did not pass.
