Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) was selected CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of San Benito County as his Nonprofit of the Year for the 12th Senate District.
“CASA is an invaluable asset to our community and those they help,” Cannella said. “Foster care certainly has its challenges, and we need to do all that we can to support foster children and the families that care for them. The staff and volunteers at CASA San Benito make a real difference in strengthening our community.”
CASA of San Benito County became an independent nonprofit in 2013, after having been a division of CASA of Monterey County since 2007. Their primary goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of abused and neglected children. The staff and volunteers work with various organizations and local agencies to establish a better environment for children to reach their full potential and to work toward ending the cycle of abuse and neglect.
“We are so proud of the caring people that make our organization successful, and thank Senator Cannella for this affirmation of our effectiveness in providing the essential needs for the children of our community,” said Esther Curtice, executive director of CASA of San Benito County. “We couldn’t do what we do without the love and support of our volunteers and local officials.”
Cannella presented Curtice with a resolution on the Senate floor that enumerates the contributions of CASA San Benito to its community and the 12th Senate District.
