On Friday, Aug. 8 at about 2:30 p.m., a citizen tip led to the arrest of 20-year-old Isaac Hernandez of Hollister who was found in possession of suspected illegal narcotics at the Veterans' Memorial Park skate park area.

Chief David Westrick was contacted by an anonymous citizen who reported seeing suspected illegal drug activity just outside the park. Officer Bill Hutchison responded to the area and contacted Hernandez. After a brief investigation, Hernandez was found in possession of suspected illegal narcotics. Another man, identified as Keegan Bielejec, 20, of Hollister, was suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Both suspects were transported to San Benito County Jail and booked.

“I want to thank the citizen personally for stepping up and taking a stand," Westrick said. "Last year I made a commitment to work with the community to help clean our parks of illegal activity. This is a good example of that. We truly need the community to help us rid our parks, facilities and streets of this kind of illegal activity. Drug users and those that sell drugs should be getting a very clear message that there’s no place for them in our town. We’ve had enough. Please keep those calls coming; it is really working.”
