That is exactly what local businesses and individuals proved at the annual United Way Holiday Extravaganza. The lively crowd enjoyed entertainment by Dan DeMers as they sipped cocktails and perused beautiful hand-decorated trees and wreaths. The event, held at Ridgemark Golf & Country Club, was also the kick-off to San Benito County’s 12 Days of Giving.
Phil Fortino acted as emcee for the event, adding his unique brand of entertainment to the occasion. Advisory Board Chair Mary Damm gave a heartwarming account of the progress United Way of San Benito County had made over the past year, and Vicki Fortino, UW Coordinator, introduced special guests Jessica Mancini from the David & Lucille Packard Foundation and Mary Lou Goeke, executive director; United Way of Santa Cruz. She also recognized the premiere sponsors of the event: Graniterock, Pacific Scientific and Rabobank.
The event includes a “surprise” $10 gift table, silent auction and live auction. The funds raised at the annual event supports over 14 program partner non-profits supporting the needs of county residents in the areas of youth success, financial stability, and health.
