San Benito County lands at No. 98 out of 3,111 in the best counties in which to live, according to an article by The Washington Post titled the “Natural Amenities Index.”   This index was compiled by the USDA and ranked all of the counties in the USA according to the following categories, mild, sunny winters; temperate summers; low humidity, topographic variation; and access to a body of water.

All counties in the top 10 are in California (no surprise here) with Ventura County ranked as No. 1.

Be glad that we live here; we are ranked high and our nearby neighbors Monterey and Santa Cruz are ranked at No. 9 and No. 12. I believe we would been in the top 10 if we had coastline on the Pacific Ocean. All of the Top 10 have beachfront property on the Pacific Ocean.
