Veterans, families and community members attended a community block party on Friday, May 19 to promote the “Veteran Voices of San Benito County” project and premier five short films that feature local veterans’ stories. The free event, hosted by the San Benito County Arts Council in coordination with the American Legion Post 69 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9242, also featured a neighborhood barbecue, live music.

The “Veteran Voices of San Benito County” project, launched in the Fall 2016, consisted of a short film project led by Community Media Access Partnership (CMAP) and a mural spearheaded by local artist and veteran Phillip Ray Orabuena.

The two-part project was funded with a $9,700 grant from the California Arts Council’s Veterans Initiative in the Arts Program
