The 2016 community fireworks display typically held at Marguerite Maze Middle School will instead be held at the Hollister Municipal Airport beginning at 9:30 p.m. on July 4. Limited seating will be available on the airport ramp from the San Felipe Road entrance.

Officials said concerns over the annual show’s proximity to new housing developments as well as traffic concerns prompted the change of venue.

Viewing will also be available from Aerostar Drive off of Flynn Road. The gate at the end of Aerostar will be unlocked for walk-in viewers only at 8 p.m. No food will be allowed in this area. Fireworks watchers are encouraged to bring blankets and/or chairs for viewing.

These events are produced by the 4th of July Celebration Committee and the Hollister Downtown Association.
