Community Food Bank Announces Holiday Closure

Friday distribution normal before Labor Day break

Community Food Bank will not be open for its usual Saturday morning food distribution and deliveries this week in observance of the Labor Day Holiday.

The Friday distribution will take place as usual, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Community Food Bank, 1133 San Felipe Road in Hollister.  The normal Friday food deliveries also will take place.  Regular Friday and Saturday Pantry distribution will return next week, Sept. 11 and 12.

The food bank serves an average of 3,600 individuals each month.  In addition to the distribution from the food bank, on-site delivery takes place at locations throughout San Benito County, and front-door delivery is available for people with limited access to transportation.

Other services include backpack bags filled with kid-friendly food for weekends, a San Juan Bautista Pantry and Thrift Store, outreach and education and provision of deeply discounted groceries to local partner agencies.

For further information, call Community Food Bank at 637-0340.

I've been at this most of my life, and it still fascinates and challenges me. San Benito County can be a cruel mistress at times, but we can share in our love for her, even with all her quirks.
