Community FoodBank of San Benito received word last week that it is to receive a $5,000 Community Impact grant through the Community Foundation for San Benito County.

The grant is one of 41 amounting to a total $250,000 awarded by Community Foundation for its 2018 granting cycle. All grants must be used for the benefit of San Benito County residents.

Community FoodBank will apply its funding toward general operations.

“We’ve come to count on our partnership with Community Foundation over the years of support we’ve enjoyed,” said Maria Thomas, FoodBank chief executive officer.

In 2018, Community FoodBank reached some 9,000 local residents, sharing more than 1 million pounds of groceries.
