Outsiders

It is not unusual nor is it illegal for an individual or organization to make a political contribution to a candidate or measure for political purposes.  Outsiders are not eligible to vote in San Benito County.  Only individuals, 18 yrs of age or older who reside in San Benito County and are currently registered are eligible to vote in the next election scheduled for Tuesday, November 5th

Growth

Until and when the appropriate infrastructure exists within the County of San Benito can there be further development.  And let’s devote our efforts to retain our agricultural environment in the process.  The Farm Bureau misrepresents itself in that effort.

Traffic

The amount of traffic which currently exists is already far in excess of what our County can handle.  Additional development at this time will only exacerbate the situation we face daily.

Revenue

It is painfully obvious to anyone who is well informed that housing does not pay the bills.  Housing developments are not revenue generators.  Housing developments increase, intensify operating costs.  And those costs become massive when you consider two major challenges the County faces:

  1. The unjust limitation in the County’s share of each property tax dollar – eleven (11) cents.
  2. The inappropriate agreements made with Developers over the years that have caused the County to subsidize the Developers at the County taxpayer’s expense.

Roads

Even with additional sales tax provisions, the collection of traffic impact fees, and budgetary items for road improvements, what a sorry state our County roads are in.

You are encouraged to cast a yes vote on Measure A on November 5th.  It will allow us to slow growth  and concentrate on fixing the roads.  And please vote for Roxanne Stephens for mayor to ensure that the Leadership in Hollister is not serving at the beck and call of Developers!
