Congressman Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) filed his papers Nov. 27 to run for re-election to the United States House of Representatives in California’s 20th Congressional District.

In the news release, Congressman Panetta stated, “I am devoted to serving the diverse people in our communities, giving our neighbors the best shot at achieving the American Dream, protecting our home.”

“In Congress, I’m working to lower costs for healthcare and prescription drugs, increase access to higher education, protect programs for vulnerable children and seniors, enact fair tax policies, support agriculture research and food security, and ensure veterans receive their deserved benefits. Although this is a challenging time in American politics, I remain focused on protecting our democracy, promoting our Central Coast values, and passing legislation that helps our community members,” Panetta stated.

In Congress, Jimmy serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means, House Committee on Agriculture, and the House Committee on Budget.

California’s 20th Congressional District includes Monterey and San Benito Counties, and portions of Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties.  Panetta is currently serving his second term in Congress, having been elected in 2016, and again in 2018.

Congressman Jimmy Panetta lives in Carmel Valley, his hometown, with his wife Carrie McIntyre Panetta and their two daughters.
