On March 16 at 1:30 p.m., 18th District Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren will hold a virtual town hall to discuss “federal funding freezes, some of Trump’s executive orders, DOGE, the House Republicans’ budget bill, tariffs and more.”
Those interested in participating can pre-register at lofgren.house.gov/live before 2 p.m. on March 14. The talk can also be joined live on March 16 at 1:30 p.m. on lofgren.house.gov/live.
In her announcement, Lofgren reiterated her support for Ukraine, her opposition to “mindless cuts” being made by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, tariffs recently imposed by President Donald Trump and possible cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and other federal programs and agencies.
Writing to BenitoLink, Lofgren stated she prides herself on being accessible to the people in her district and keeps an open door policy at her offices in Washington, D.C. and San Jose. She mentioned previous efforts at outreach including a 2020 town hall where she discussed the government’s response to the pandemic.
Lofgren wrote, in part: “I hope to have an in-person town hall added to my schedule once Congress passes the government funding deadline on March 14. Ahead of that and to stay as connected as possible, I am hosting this Tele-Town Hall to brief attendees about recent happenings. The majority of the Tele-Town Hall will consist of my answering questions live. It is my hope that an honest back-and-forth can be productive for everyone, and that I leave the Tele-Town Hall with an even better sense of how the hardworking people in our district are feeling right now.”
Attendees will be able to ask Lofgren questions and there will be a prompt for participants to leave a voicemail and receive a written reply from her if time runs short. Logren said that residents of her district can also submit their questions or comments on her website at any time and request a response.
