A soccer match between Mexico and Chile at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Saturday stirred up plenty of interest in San Benito County, with some fans heading up early for tailgating prior to the Copa America quarterfinals, which Chile won 7-0.
The loss snapped Mexico’s 22-game unbeaten streak.
Some fans of the Mexico squad purchased went to Big 5 and other Hollister stores to purchase propane and other supplies for the tailgate party.Â
Mexico fans Oscar Arroyo, Daniel Gomes and William Lobato told BenitoLink that the ticket price for the match was steep but they were excited to be able to see their team play against Chile in nearby Santa Clara. Â
