The San Benito County Fair has opened entries for the 2015 event, which will run Oct. 1-4. Fair Horse Show activities precede the fair on Sept. 25-28. The entry deadline is Sept. 4.

The 2015 Exhibitor’s Handbook and entry forms maybe found on the fair website: www.sanbenitocountyfair.com.  Paper forms are available in the fair office for those individuals who don’t have access to computers.

Fair entries are accepted for a wide array of departments. Quilts, industrial arts, baked goods, junior and adult crafts, homemade beer and wine, produce, photography, fine arts, floriculture, horse show events, and livestock are just a sampling of the entry opportunities.

“The San Benito County Fair is the perfect venue to showcase the talents of local residents,” CEO and Fair Manager Donnette Carter said in a release, noting that this year, poultry, rabbit, 4-H Still exhibits, and all livestock departments will exclusively accept entries using only the online system.

Youth and parents are encouraged to consult with FFA and 4-H leaders for assistance in this streamlined process.  Fair officials announced the first double-sanctioned youth rabbit show with a one-day carry-in or option to coop-in on opening day this year. Mailed entries will be accepted if USPS postmarked on or before Sept. 4, and metered mail will not be accepted unless received by the deadline date.

Online entries for the fair must be completed by midnight on Sept. 4. The fair office will open until 6 p.m. on that day to accept walk-in entries. Individuals are, however, encouraged to turn in their entries early in order to ensure accuracy prior to the deadline.

Entry assistance is available daily by phone or in person. The fair office is located at Bolado Park Event Center, 9000 Airline Highway in Tres Pinos and open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The phone number is 831-628-3421. Â
