The San Benito County Free Library will have a new website online within a couple of week and "maybe sooner," Librarian Nora Conte told the Board of Supervisors on Aug. 19.

In her report about a summer reading program designed to prevent the "summer slide" of youth losing some of what they had learned during the school year, Conte said her staff had received technology tutorial training and would soon be able to help the public through a soon-to-be unveiled upgraded technology lab.

Through grant funding, Conte said the library received equipment "that will better help us train individuals in technology. The public can use iPads to do research on our databases and email (the information) to their homes."

The new library website will include Common Core standards "so our children can practice on that test before they take it in school."
