The San Benito County Board of Supervisors has selected Don Chapin Company to repair the portion of Southside Road closed due to movement of the hillside above it. The decision occurred at an emergency meeting of the board.
On May 30, the county announced that, in the interest of public safety, the road would be closed in order to allow for technical experts to assess the situation and develop a strategy. Upon completion of the engineering strategy development, the Don Chapin Company will begin repair work.
"I want our residents to know that their safety and well-being is our top priority," Supervisor Jerry Muenzer said. "My goal is to ensure the road is back in service in a timely manner without compromising the safety of our community."
