Donation to benefit SBHS athletics

Trust of Fulton Picetti donates $262K to support sports at San Benito High School

The trust of Fulton J. Picetti announced a $262,000 gift to San Benito High School Athletics, Superintendent John Perales announced on Oct. 20. The money will be invested with the Community Foundation and award the athletics department 5 percent yearly in perpetuity.

In announcing the gift to the school, Superintendent John Perales said, "What a wonderful git that will support our student-athletes forever!"

Picetti passed away in 2012 at the age of 96. He was well known for his generous support of education in San Benito County. The Hollister native was a graduate of Stanford University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics in 1939. He was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army and was former owner/partner of Picetti & Anderson Insurance Agency in Hollister.
