Dr. Loco’s Rockin Jalapeño Band will play a lively concert on Saturday, May 30 at the El Teatro Campesino Playhouse in San Juan Bautista with all proceeds benefiting art programs for local youth. The concert, presented by the San Benito County Arts Council, will showcase the award-winning band, which has a strong local and regional following and plays a mix of Chicano music, rock n’ roll and R&B.

Dr. Loco’s Rockin Jalapeño Band has been celebrating Chicano musical traditions since 1989, when founded by Texas-born/San Francisco-based saxophonist Jose B. Cuellar, who holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from UCLA, and serves as professor emeritus of Latino/a Studies at San Francisco State University.   Over the years, the critically-acclaimed Dr. Loco’s Rockin’ Jalapeño Band has featured some of the best musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area on four CDs and over 1,000 live performances at some of the best campus, community and commercial venues across the country.

The 2015 lineup consists of New Mexican-born/San Jose-based guitarist Tomas Montoya, Texas-born/Modesto-based bassist Manuel Polanco, Ohio-born/Oakland-based drummer Joe Brigandi, and Bakersfield-born/San Francisco-based accordionist/trumpetist Miguel Govea.
