The Center for Employment Training (CET) has received $2.1 million from La Cooperativa Campesina de California (La Coop) a farmworker services cooperative based in Sacramento, to provide eligible local individuals and families with assistance for rent and utilities. This is part of the California Department of Housing and Community Development’s (HCD) effort to help farmworker and non-farmworker individuals and families impacted by the drought.

Randall Deems, acting director for HCD stated, “Rental assistance and help with utility bills will provide some stability to families and communities that are most vulnerable to the economic impacts of reduced agricultural production this year.” 
 
Relief funds are available for eligible individuals and families that reside in San Benito, Santa Cruz, and Monterey counties. Persons seeking relief assistance should contact CET centers in Salinas, Soledad and 
Watsonville for information on the application process and have the following documents when applying for relief: 
 
• Picture identification 
• Landlord statement/verification for rental assistance 
• Utility bills statement
