Edible Monterey Bay magazine and the San Benito Olive Festival invite the public to a free, new issue release party at Pietra Santa Winery south of Hollister from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Organizers of the San Benito Olive Festival have lined up Fisher’s Catering of Hollister to provide complimentary olive-inspired small bites, and San Benito Bene will serve ice cream treats infused with artisanal olive oils.
Pietra Santa will pour its wines at a cash bar and we will provide the new issue of Edible Monterey Bay for you to take home. Space is limited, so it is recommended that potential attendees RSVP by clicking here before it fills up. Guests who RSVP in advance will be entered to win free prizes.
About Pietra Santa Winery
Driving up to the stately winery makes you feel as if you’re approaching a European villa. In fact, the vineyards were planted in the 1850s by a Frenchman, Theophile Vache, who was attracted to the property by its exceptionally wine-friendly climate and mineral-rich soils. The name Pietra Santa comes from the Italian for “sacred stone.”
Today, Pietra Santa offers many varietals of wine as well as fine estate organic olive oils made from its five types of olive trees.
Local chef to cater event
Chef Mike Fisher, who will be cooking the party’s small bites, is a Hollister native who trained as a chef in Paris and previously worked in such esteemed kitchens as that of Daniel in New York and Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley. He now runs his own business, Fisher’s Catering.
An olive oil theme
Hollister-based San Benito Bene, which will be offering the ice cream treats with infused olive oil, is the go-to place for unique gifts and fresh, quality products from San Benito County for your own pantry and home.
The San Benito Olive Festival, the event’s co-host, will hold its celebration of local olive oil, food and wine on Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
