Emergency joint seal replacement on San Benito River Bridge begins May 29

An emergency project to remove and replace new bridge joint seals on the San Benito River Bridge on southbound Highway 101 starts Sunday evening.

An emergency project to remove and replace new bridge joint seals on the San Benito River Bridge on southbound US Highway 101 will begin Tuesday, May 29, with alternating lane closures from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following morning.

According to a Caltrans press release, motorists will also encounter alternating lane closures Monday night through Friday morning during the overnight hours from 9 p.m. until 7 a.m. Detour signs and electronic message boards will be posted to assist motorists.

Motorists can expect to encounter delays not to exceed 10 minutes.

The contractor for this $1 million project is Golden State Bridge, Inc. from Benicia, CA. The project is expected to be complete this August.
