Free Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Event

All San Benito County residents can dispose of up to 15 gallons/125 pounds of household hazardous waste on Saturday, August 17th from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.at the John Smith Road Landfill (2650 John Smith Road, Hollister). Please bring your CA Driver’s License or ID indicating you are a resident of San Benito County. We accept ammonia, bleach, bathroom/kitchen cleaners, aerosol sprays, polishes, fluorescent lamps/bulbs, nail polish/nail polish remover, batteries, smoke detectors, medications, sharps (in approved sharp containers), pesticides, weed killers, motor oil/oil filters, computer monitors, CPU’s, TV’s, VCR’s, printers, copiers, laptops, cell phones, paint/paint thinners, wood stains, glues/adhesives, solvents and more.
Please advise that residents can dispose of up to 5 gallons of motor oil and 3 oil filters PER DAY for FREE at the landfill everyday. Residents can also dispose of up to 4 e-waste items (computer monitors, CPU’s, TV’s, VCR’s, printers, copiers, laptops, cell phones) PER DAY for FREE at the landfill everyday. It is recommended that residents take advantage of these daily services first before relying on monthly household hazardous waste events.
Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Events are held the 3rd Saturday of every month from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
