The Hollister Police Department sent a news release requesting the public’s help in locating a carjacking suspect.
The police report stated that on Sunday, Nov. 19 at about 1:00 p.m., an unknown male suspect approached another man on the 900 block of Apricot Lane and brandished a firearm. The suspect demanded to take the man’s vehicle and the victim managed to run to a nearby house to ask for help.
Next, the report explains a turn of events. “The suspect, however, struggled with the car and was unsuccessful in taking the vehicle. Apparently, the suspect did not know how to operate a manual transmission. The suspect was last seen on foot [going] toward Westside Blvd,” states the news release.
Police searched the area but were not able to find the man. The report states that the suspect was recorded on a nearby surveillance camera that resulted in distant photo.
According to the police department, the suspect was wearing a dark grey Nike hooded sweatshirt, dark colored jeans with dirty white shoes He is described as a Hispanic male adult approximately 25-28 years old, approximately 5’ 5” tall and weighing about 160 lbs..
