On Aug. 25 at approximately 6:24 a.m. Monterey Communications Center (MCC) advised CHP Hollister-Gilroy Officers of a two vehicle crash on SR-156, east of Flint Road. Officers responded to the scene of the crash and determined the following information through a preliminary investigation. Party #1, Walter Williams (47), was driving a 2024 Nissan on SR-156 eastbound, east of Flint Road, at approximately 55 MPH. Party #2, John Doe (75), was driving a Chevrolet on SR-156 westbound, east of Flint Road at an undetermined speed. Williams fell asleep and made an unsafe turning movement causing his vehicle to veer left the opposing lane and crash head on with the Chevrolet. Emergency medical personnel arrived and determined Doe had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on scene. At this time, it is not believed alcohol and/or drugs are a factor in the cause of this crash.
