Felon and two others arrested in possession of loaded gun

Three arrested in Hollister after traffic stop.

The Hollister Police Department arrested three local men for possession of a firearm.

According to information from Hollister Police Department, Officer Juan Guevara was on patrol in the 400 Block of the San Benito Street area when he stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Dec. 8 around 8:36 p.m.

Officer Guevara contacted the driver of the vehicle, the report said, who was identified as Gregory Casarez, 22. It stated there were also two passengers in the vehicle, Nicholas Lopez, 25, and Ruben Rivera Davila, 25.

During the car stop, the report stated Officer Guevara conducted a search of the vehicle and located a loaded handgun in the car. Police said the firearm was fully loaded and within reach of all of the occupants, but no one in the vehicle admitted to owning the firearm.

All three occupants were arrested for possession of a loaded firearm. Rivera Davila was also charged for being a convicted felon in control of a firearm.

The news release stated the three men were transported to the San Benito County Jail were they were booked and released to jail staff for processing.
