As the Geico Endurocross series travels south for its final round in Ontario, Calif., two men with San Benito County ties — Colton Haaker and Cody Webb — will battle for the top spot. Endurocross in an event that brings the technical challenge of riding off-road motocross (MX) to the indoors. Riders must navigate wet logs, rocks, sand and water crossing for a number of laps.

For Haaker, who grew up in Hollister, it was a natural stepping stone for his career after racing local mx and enduro/GNCC style as a kid. He moved into trials competitions in his late teens. His combination of technical riding skills matched with his MX racer's pace has paid off. He has been one of the top national racers over the last four years.

Webb, from Aromas, won the series last year and has been Haaker's main competition this year. Webb has a primarily trials background and was crowned National Trials Champion in 2010. This season, the two have gone back and forth in the standings. The winner will be decided in Ontario on Nov. 21.

Racing information is available on the Geico Endurocross website. You can also go the the website to see more on the last race in Boise, Idaho where Haaker moved into the lead.
